Cancellation & Refund Policy

What happens to your 15% deposit when plans change — yours, ours, or the mountain's.

Last updated: September 2026

1. How a Peak Atlas payment is split

Every expedition is operated by an independent, locally licensed guide service (the "Operator"). Peak Atlas collects a 15% deposit of the total trip price to confirm your place. The remaining 85% is paid directly to the Operator before or on the first day of the trip.

The deposit is what secures your spot in the group and takes it out of public availability, which is why the refund windows below apply to it.

2. If you cancel

More than 30 days before departure: full refund of your 15% deposit, minus payment-processing fees that the card networks do not return to us.

15 to 30 days before departure: 50% of the deposit is refunded. The rest covers the place the Operator held for you and can no longer resell.

14 days or less before departure: the deposit is non-refundable, because the Operator has already committed guides, huts, permits and transport for your group.

No-show on the day of departure, or leaving the trip once it has started: no refund of the deposit, and any balance already paid is subject to the Operator's own conditions.

3. Rebooking instead of cancelling

You may move your deposit once to another departure date of the same route, free of charge, if you ask more than 15 days before departure and the Operator has a place available.

Moving to a different route is treated as a new booking: we refund according to the windows above and you book the new date fresh.

4. If the trip is cancelled or changed by the Operator

If the Operator cancels — too few participants, guide illness, closed access — you receive a full refund of your deposit, or you may move it to any other date or route at no cost.

Mountain weather, avalanche risk, rockfall and glacier conditions can force a route change or a turnaround at the guide's discretion. A safety decision taken by the lead guide is not a cancellation and does not create a refund entitlement, because the guiding service was delivered.

Where a multi-day trip is abandoned after it has started, the Operator decides on any partial refund of unused services, such as hut nights not taken.

5. Insurance

Travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical care and mountain rescue up to the maximum altitude of your route is strongly recommended, and is required by some Operators. Our refund windows do not replace insurance: illness, injury and missed flights are covered by your policy, not by us.

6. How to cancel or rebook

Email nikita88W@icloud.com with your booking reference, which appears on your Peak Atlas voucher. We answer within one working day and confirm every cancellation in writing.

Refunds are returned to the card used for the deposit and usually appear within 5 to 10 working days of confirmation.
